The First Few Days at Home With Your New Baby

Posted by admin on April 30, 2008 in Kids + Parenting

The first few days home from the hospital are just as important to you as they are to your baby. As new parents you will have gone through an exciting birth that will have left you breathless and exhilarated. As a new mother you will be emotionally and physically exhausted. As a new father you will be overwhelmed by your new responsibilities. The first days at home are a time to take a deep breath, sit back and relax, and take some time just for you.

During your first days at home it may be wise to limit the amount of visitors that you welcome into your home. Other than your immediate family and good friends you might want to ask other friends to wait a week or two before they descend on you with gifts and wanting to hold the new baby. You need time to recuperate and settle into the routine that a sleeping, feeding, and often crying baby brings into your life.

As a new mother you will need to pay particular attention to the way that you are feeling so that those “baby blues” don’t creep up and surprise you unexpectedly. It is normal to feel a bit out of sorts and sad for the first couple of weeks after giving birth. Your body is going through some major physical changes after the birth of your baby. Your hormones will be changing and you likely will be feeling a lack of sleep. All of this can affect the way that you feel.

You should be patient with yourself, understand that all these feelings are normal, and that in a couple of weeks things will feel better for you. If you find that you are feeling more and more depressed, and find it difficult to care for yourself and your family, you should consult your doctor so that he/she can determine if you are suffering from a condition called postpartum depression.

Symptoms of postpartum depression include:

• Overwhelming feelings of sadness and depression accompanied by crying.

• Having little or no energy.

• Feelings of guilt and worthlessness.

• Having no interest in your baby or being overly concerned and worried about your baby.

• Weight gain accompanied with overeating.

• Weight loss accompanied by not eating.

• Feeling afraid of hurting yourself or your baby.

• Insomnia.

• Oversleeping.

During the first few days at home your family will be adjusting to the additional member of your family. If you have other children at home you may be dealing with feelings of jealousy as the new baby takes center stage. Make sure that you include your other children in the day-to-day activities that are part of the new baby’s routine. Let older children help with diaper changing, feeding, and just sitting and holding the new baby if they are old enough to do so.

This is your time to adjust to the changes in your life and settle into a comfortable routine…..at least for the moment!

How to Buy A Treadmill - Key Points

Posted by admin on in Internet Templates Resources

Finding the best treadmill to buy shouldn’t be a difficult
thing to do. Treadmills have long been touted as a major
player in the health and fitness field and for good reason.
They are relatively compact, promote vital cardiovascular
benefits, and are simple to use. Not to mention you don’t
have to get in the car and run to the gym! The only thing
left is to find the right treadmill for you. Here are a few
treadmill keys.

First, check with your doctor that this is an appropriate
health regimen for you to embark upon. It probably is, or
you wouldn’t be reading this! Next, check the motor and see
of it is powerful enough for your needs as relates to
weight. Most brands offer several options in this area.
Health monitoring features such as heart rate monitors are
an added benefit to keep track of your progress. The ability
to store the treadmill economically is a plus also, and
sturdy hand rails and easy on/off benefits add to your
experience.

Other features that you may want to consider include safety
features, shock absorption, variable speeds, calorie
counters (to tell you just how hard you’ve been working!)
time/distance calculators, and of course a reasonable
guarantee/warranty. The motor should be have a warranty of
at least 2 years, and the more the better. Some are as long
as ten years. Shop around.

Buying a treadmill online can be very easy. Not only can it
save you money, but you can usually come up with good deals
on shipping. Take your time and compare, and then start
walking!

Nutritional Help for Type 1 Diabetes

Posted by admin on April 29, 2008 in Web Of Medicine

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which the pancreas fails to secrete sufficient insulin or the body’s decreased ability to use insulin. Diabetes mellitus is Greek for ‘a passing through of sweetness’ which refers to the passing of sugar rich urine, a characteristic of the disease. It is a very serious disorder, sometimes fatal and is the leading cause of death in Western society because of its damage to the cardiovascular system.

In a healthy body food is digested to release glucose into the blood. This causes beta cells in the pancreas to release insulin into the bloodstream. Insulin helps in the transportation of glucose from the blood to the liver and muscle cells. This can then be released later into the blood for metabolism. If the pancreas fails to produce sufficient amounts of insulin or if there is insulin resistance then diabetes will set in.

There are two types of diabetes, Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) also known as juvenile-onset diabetes, type 1 diabetes and Non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) also known as maturity-onset diabetes, type 2 diabetes. Both environmental and genetic factors contribute to both forms of diabetes mellitus but the exact cause of diabetes mellitus is unknown. In both types, excess sugar in the blood known as hyperglycemia needs to be removed by the kidneys. Excessive thirst, frequent urination, weight loss and hunger are the symptoms.

In type 1 diabetes the body’s immune system destroys the pancreas beta cells resulting in low insulin levels. To prevent death insulin injections are needed this is why it is called insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). It is most common in people under 20 years old and then persists throughout life; this is why it is also know as juvenile-onset diabetes. IDDM is most common in Northern Europe especially in Finland where 1% of the population develops IDDM before the age of 15 years.

In untreated IDDM the cellular metabolism is similar to that of a starving person. This is because the insulin is not present to help the glucose into the body cells, to produce Adenosine triphosphate (energy currency) most cells use fatty acids. Triglycerides are stored in adipose tissues which are catabolized to yield fatty acids and glycerol. The breakdown of fatty acids cause a byproduct of organic fatty acids called ketones or ketone bodies. The buildup of ketones causes a fall in blood pH which is known as ketoacidosis, if this is left untreated it can cause diabetic coma and death.

Weight loss is also caused by the breakdown of stored triglycerides. Lipids are deposited on the walls of blood vessels as they are transported by the blood from cells storage depots. This leads to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular problems such as cerebrovascular insufficiency, ischemic heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and gangrene. Sever kidney problems may also arise from damage to renal blood vessels. Loss of vision due to cataracts (excess glucose attaches itself to lens proteins) and damage to the retina’s blood vessels.

To treat type 1 diabetes a regime of self-monitoring the blood glucose level (up to seven times a day), insulin injection (up to 3 times a day), exercise and regular meals containing 45-50% carbohydrates and less than 30% fats. This regime will keep the levels of insulin and sugar in the blood normal. It is also possible to have a pancreas transplant but immunosuppressive drugs must be taken for life. Eating foods containing carbohydrates such as rice, potatoes, bread and cereals will raise blood sugar and insulin levels. This sugar raising effect of a food is called ‘the glycaemic index’ and it measure how quickly the carbohydrate is absorbed by the body. Studies have found that people with type 1 diabetes have better control over their blood sugar levels by following a low-glycaemic-index diet.

Diabetics with neuropathy (diabetic nerve damage) have found their condition improved by following a vegan type diet (avoiding all meat, eggs and dairy products). By avoiding meat and dairy products, the chances of developing heart disease and kidney problems which diabetics are susceptible to, are reduced. Diabetics who smoke are at higher risk of developing heart disease and kidney problems. Diabetics who consume above the daily recommended amounts of alcohol are more at risk of developing problems with their eyes.

The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Type 1 Diabetes.

Acetyl-L-carnitine (for diabetic neuropathy)

Your Big Yellow Bus

Posted by admin on in Kids + Parenting

The big yellow school bus is coming down my road again. The neighborhood kids seem happy. The dogs are not. The kids are no longer around during the day and Jersey is going to drop a little weight without all the treats they have been bringing her this summer. I must admit that when I see the bus, I feel sorry for those poor suckers. And I express my gratitude that I’m no longer going back to school this time of year.

But I am noticing that September stirs in me the urge to learn and do something new. How long do we have to be out of school before we lose the September urge? How long does it take, how many generations must pass, before we lose our agrarian urge to harvest in the fall?

As soon as the days get noticeably shorter, as soon as the nights are a little crisper, and as soon as the big yellow school bus starts appearing in the morning, I get energized to learn. I could tell it was starting last week when I bought a new hiking skirt and a batch of socks. They are soft, fluffy chenille socks. They’re perfect for fall weather and sticking my feet into them makes me feel oh so very good. The urge to write is stronger too. I’ve got more newsletter ideas than I can hold in my little brain so I picked up a batch of 25 yellow legal pads and more pencil lead just for the occasion. And read. Yesterday I went to Amazon.com and ordered ALL the books I’ve had on my wish list for some time. And I’ve bought some new PDF software that I’m now learning as I play with some new coaching offerings. You’d think I was getting ready for school myself. New clothes, new software to learn, new books to read and a writing frenzy. Yup, as much as I think I’ve graduated, the back-to-school syndrome seems to be ingrained in me. I know it’s not just me. My coaching practice always picks up this time of year with new clients wanting to make big changes. I think we’re all ready to learn a little something new about ourselves.

So as 2003 begins to wane, take on some new environments, meet new people, and learn something new while wearing something new.

Between now and winter break, your assignment is to surrender control rather than seize it. Learning is never about taking control, but about letting go and trusting. Since the big yellow bus was a place where we could all go internal, especially on the morning ride when we were not quite awake, put yourself on that bus now. You’re in 3rd or 4th grade and on your way to school. You didn’t ride the bus to school? That’s okay. You can play too. If Mom or Dad drove you, put yourself in the family car. If you walked, imagine yourself on the path. Ask yourself these questions:

What is the one thing I’ve been dreaming about since those bus rides of my childhood; the thing I’ve always wanted to do but have not done yet? Don’t know what that is? Ask a close friend or family member. Ask the person who sat next to you on the bus. They’ll be all to willing to tell you what you’ve been saying for years you’ve wanted to do.

What’s the one thing I loved doing as a childthe thing I wish I were doing instead of riding this busthat I have stopped doing as an adult?

If these take some learning, then get the book or sign up for the class. If they mean buying some supplies, new clothes or gear, get them. Now get on your own Big Yellow Bus and take the ride!

Coral Calcium - Your Source For This Necessary Mineral?

Posted by admin on April 28, 2008 in Nutrition Info

Coral calcium is used as a dietary supplement. Taking in enough calcium everyday is an essential part of keeping your body healthy, and if you don’t take in enough calcium through your regular diet, calcium supplements are a very good idea. Calcium supplements come in an incredible variety of forms from a great array of manufacturers. Coral calcium supplements are one of the options.

Coral calcium is different from other supplemental calcium sources because of where it comes from. As you might guess from the name, it is derived from a coral species of the sea. Because these species are protected, the product is not made from the living coral. It is made from the pieces that have worn off or been washed off of the coral. Many believe that this is a great supplement because the coral’s mineral composition tends to be similar in many ways to the composition of the human Skeleton. Also, the fact that corals are found in nature, and are not man made tend to shed good light on coral calcium products by labeling them all-natural.

Most people know the basic functions of calcium in your body. This substance helps your body to make and maintain good bone and teeth structure and strength. If you don’t take in enough calcium, your bones may not grow properly, or may become brittle and easy to break. This is also true for the teeth. You can get many foods that are rich in calcium, such as milk, cereals, and juices. If you want to know how much you are taking in, just read on nutrition labels. If you aren’t taking in enough, supplements may be used, such as coral calcium.

Aside from the widely known reasons that people need calcium for strong teeth and bones, there are plenty more reasons to get your daily dose. Calcium is also needed for your heart, muscles, and even nerves to function correctly. Also, calcium is needed for your blood to clot. Without enough calcium, your body would be in all around bad shape. If all it takes for you to keep all of these functions going properly is a supplement everyday, why wait?

There are many calcium supplements on the market. Some people think coral calcium is the best source available. Some think that there are better options. But one thing is certain - You need plenty of calcium everyday. Get it somewhere to keep many important functions of your body working properly.

Investing Offshore, Could it Be for You

Posted by admin on in Finance + Capital

Is offshore investing only for the rich and famous? Probably
not, although most of us don’t know a lot about offshore
investing. Here is a simple primer for the fledgling offshore
investor.

Offshore investing is simply placing your investment dollars in
an account with a bank that is not in the United States. There
are several advantages to investing offshore.

First, there is less regulation. Some may feel that this makes
the investment riskier, but that is not necessarily the case. It
does allow the fund manager or company to act more freely. The
lack of regulation also means less taxes. Most offshore accounts
are invested in countries that have minimal tax laws for these
investments. That means that more of your money is available to
work for you.

Privacy is also an issue for some investors. Most of the
countries typically involved in offshore investments have laws
making it illegal for the investment firms to release any
information regarding their investors. There is virtually no
governmental reporting. This ensures that your investments and
personal information will be confidential. For many who want
privacy, this is a major benefit of offshore accounts.

In our lawsuit happy society, those with assets want to protect
them from litigation. Many of the offshore countries chosen have
laws that don’t recognize foreign awards so the assets placed in
these countries are not subject to seizure. Although not a major
consideration for everyone, for many it is a factor in deciding
to choose an offshore investment vehicle.

Many of the offshore jurisdiction have much less complicated
estate laws and tax structures. Utilizing offshore accounts for
estate planning purposes is becoming more and more popular. Many
set up an offshore charitable foundation in countries with
favorable estate tax laws.

In order to set up an offshore investment account, an individual
must either reside in or establish a legal presence in the
offshore country that will make the gains taxable in that
jurisdiction and not the onshore one. There are several
companies that will help you set up a corporation and complete
the required paperwork to get started in offshore investing.
These firms will help you set up a corporation called an
International Business Corporation (IBC) or a Limited Liability
Corporation (LLC).

If you’re happy with your existing portfolio, but you want to
move it offshore, you can move to a brokerage firm offshore once
the legal paperwork is completed. The brokerage account will be
opened under the name of the IBC, and then the brokerage
completes your orders in the name of the IBC. Your personal
identity is never involved. Of course, these brokerages can
invest in offshore mutual funds or any investment worldwide.
Offshore investing may not be for everyone, but if you have
assets that you want to protect from seizure, you want to
maintain the strictest confidentiality, or you want to seek tax
relief, investigate the possibilities. You may find that
offshore investing will help you reach your financial goals.

The UKs Sexiest Adult Sex Toy Survey for Couples to Experience

Posted by admin on in Shopping Tips

So adult sex toy are on the lips of every laddete these days, either speaking about them in the toilet, at the art gallery or on the television. But which adult sex toy is the super duper, with the biggest choice to select from surely a sex toy researcher had to find out the best one.

An adult organisation asked over 170 UK shoppers in February what their very favourite adult sex toy was along with other personal questions.

If you love sex toys you should try out Bondage Gear

It was that the most very favourite adult sex toy for UK shoppers was the vibrator, and they just loved it! UK girls were so excited by the idea of a large vibrator that many of them would use it straight after coming home from work. The best models of vibrator were the bunny vibrators as they help to stimulate the clitoris as well as inserting into the vagina.

The 2nd most popular adult sex toy was the exciting dildo dong. Dildo dongs are similar to vibrators except they do not have batteries or vibrate. Dildo dongs come in all shapes and sizes from nine inches to twelve inches. They can come with sucker cups to have a superb experience hands free and can easily attach to a bath or toilet set. Dildo dongs have been a firm favourite since the 1970s and looks like they will be around for a long time.

So it was decided that the vibrator was the winner and the dildo came in second place, with some many sex toys out there it was difficult to know which type of vibrator was the most exciting for women to try. The standard vibrator sex toys are battery powered and shaped like a male’s penis. Standard vibrator sex toys are shaped just like the real thing and use batteries for power. Stardard vibrators can be made of plastic, vinyl metal or silicone. Stardard vibrators can either be slipped in or placed against your vagina to get the sexual sensation. Sex bomb store a wide range of standard vibrator sex toys.

The easiest way to use standard vibrator sex toys is to make sure it is fresh before use, make sure it is not too gigantic for your vagina, and also make sure that you do not use it every Monday night and you do venture out on a date to the bowling.

Taking Care of Your Car’s Battery

Posted by admin on in Wheels

Every car comes with one, but some motorists act as if this
particular component is completely maintenance free. What am I
talking about? Your car’s battery. Technological advances have
made “maintenance free” batteries standard equipment on
virtually every vehicle produced today. However, the term
“maintenance free” is a misnomer, one that can leave you
stranded if you do not perform proper and regular maintenance.
Battery maintenance isn’t difficult to do, so let’s take a look
at what you can do to keep your car running.

Before discussing battery maintenance, please make sure that
your battery is, in fact, the sealed type. If it isn’t, then the
“maintenance free” label certainly does not apply and you will
need to add water on a regular basis. Unsealed batteries are
easy to spot as they have small vent caps on top of the battery
which can be twisted open. You will need to periodically add
distilled water to maintain water levels; more so in the summer
months as water tends to evaporate quicker. Do not let your
battery run low or run out of water as the battery’s cells can
be ruined.

If your battery is of the sealed variety, then the “maintenance
free” label is still only partially true since the term only
extends to you not needing to add water to the cells as you
would with an unsealed battery.

With any type of car battery - sealed or unsealed - you must
do the following to help keep it working properly:

1. Clean the cables. Disconnect the cables from the
battery and clean them with a wire brush that has been doused in
a home made mixture [the mixture combines one tablespoon of
baking soda with one cup of water]. Use this same mixture to
clean off the top of the battery; use a small and clean paint
brush to apply the solution where needed.

2. Lubricate the posts. A small dab of petroleum jelly on
each post will help keep your cables clean and free of corrosion
longer. In addition, the jelly will make it easier for you to
slip the cables back onto the battery.

3. Check connections. Besides the connection between the
cable and the posts, make sure that the battery hold down bar is
securely in place. Not all cars have or need a battery hold down
bar, but if yours has come so equipped, you will need to put it
back in its proper place.

That’s it! Car battery maintenance is an easy task and one that
should be performed on an annual basis. If you keep your battery
properly maintained, you will extend its life and greatly reduce
the chance that your battery will fail you at an inopportune
time. Yes, the “maintenance free” label is incorrect, so please
don’t be lulled into forgetting to do something that should
never be overlooked.

Online Affiliate Marketing Made Easy

Posted by admin on in The Commerce Trail

While most people struggle at their online affiliate marketing, others are comfortably raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars every month from doing some very little work, which they enjoy anyway.

And as every online affiliate looks for that marketing secret that will change their lives and earnings, the true secret of success is much simpler than one would think.

Online Affiliate Marketing: You Must Pay The Price

If you take a careful look at leading super affiliates you will notice that all of them have done one thing. They have paid the price to be where they are. Many of them started off with a burning desire like the one that has motivated you to read this article and then they went out and slaved away trying many “secrets” that didn’t work. Then one day their online affiliate marketing was transformed by a small discovery they made from all the trial and error.

Others did lots of research and kept on testing and improving on what they read. That’s exactly how the Wright brothers invented mechanized flight. It is a powerful strategy that can work in any online affiliate marketing initiative.

Hard Work Pays, Even In Online Affiliate Marketing

In brief, it is not about you discovering that secret. Rather it is about you paying the price to be successful in your online affiliate marketing. The big inspiration is in the fact that it can be done because others are already doing it.

I am fully aware of the fact that hard work is a dirty word for many online would-be entrepreneurs. But in it, you will find the true secret to success in your online affiliate marketing.
